FIVE THINGS SUMMER SCHOOL

5 Things
Interior design summer school

5 Things came about after a careers session in a local school where designers, architects, engineers, and developers each gave a 5 minute pitch on their day job, with Q+A then a quick exercise to convert the canteen into a mixed use space for kids and retirees.

Too short a time to get into the detail, and quite a few young people interested in finding out more so 5 Things is a longer look at what interior design is, the kind of spaces it includes, things we do at work and alternative career options within the industry.

A complex subject broken down into five chapters, each with five parts, designed to open up thinking & encourage curiosity, also to get stuck in and come away with an interior design portfolio project.

On-line or in-person with a couple of hands-on exercises to practice writing a brief, developing a concept and presenting a proposal, suitable for anyone with a bit of time, some magazines and a glue stick: combining analogue craft skills with digital learning and a chance to make a mess while exploring composition, organisation and editing, as well as the practical aspects of interior design.
